Nomination papers for the position of chief minister (leader of the house) will be submitted till 2 pm on June 4. The new prime minister will be elected by dividing the house on June 5.
The session was later adjourned and will resume at 11 am on Monday.
In a unique turn of events in the history of the country a smooth transition of power has taken place for the first time by a civilian government.

Historic Transition: Newly elected MNAs take oath

The newly elected legislators took oath today (Saturday, June 1, 2013) as the 14th National Assembly met for the first time marking the beginning of new parliamentary year.
The session as well as the oath-taking ceremony was marred by a two-hour delay after the scheduled time of 10 am.
The outgoing Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza administered oath to 301 parliamentarians simultaneously taking oath herself as an MNA. She is the second speaker who has been elected again as member National Assembly after Gohar Ayyub.

recounting in some national and punjab assembly seats:ECP

The Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday ordered the recounting with verification of thumb impressions on votes polled in two National Assembly and seven Punjab Assembly seats. Verification has has been ordered in NA125 and PP-39, PP-43, PP-205, PP-9, PP-257, PP-155, PP-156.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday invited Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F) to join the federal government at the centre.
 The offer was made during meeting between Shahbaz Sharif and PML-F chief Pir Pagara Syed Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi in Karachi. During the meeting, both leaders discussed political situation in the country with particular reference to Sindh province.  Pir Pagara also felicitated Shahbaz Sharif over success of his party in the May 11 elections.

"Character assassination can't be allowed" ECP Secretary:

Secretary ECP  Ishtiak Ahmad said that "Criticism against ECP is baseless"

He said that positive criticism is welcome but character assassination cannot be allowed.

He said Ishaq Khakwani of PTI s stance was fully heard by the Commission and it was decided that re-polling will not be held in that constituency as he could not satisfy the commission.

Ishtiaq said positive criticism is welcome but character assassination cannot be allowed. He said the democratic system and the country should not suffer due to undue criticism.

The Secretary Election Commission said with the exception of some stray incidents‚ elections were held peacefully and this has been acknowledged by the international community.

PK-71,PK-72

On the direction of Election Commission, polling was re-schduled in different polling stations of Bannu, Khuzdar and South Waziristan constituencies due to deteriorating law & order situation.
According to unofficial results, PK-71, PPP’s candidate Fakhr-e-Azam Khan got 17,360 votes and succeeded in securing the provincial assembly’s seat.
His rival ANP’s candidate Taimor Baz Khan received 16,219 votes only.
In PK-72 s re-polling, independent candidate Malik Shah Muhammad Khan was declared successful with 14,408 votes while JUI-F candidate Syed Hamid Shah got 12,992 votes.
